Do you hold my money?
No — and this is the heart of how DeFi differs from a bank or an exchange. Your funds aren't sitting in an Altcopy account. A vault is a smart contract: open-source code on the blockchain that holds the pooled funds and follows fixed rules.
What that means for you:
- You deposit and withdraw yourself, straight from your wallet — no one has to approve it.
- The manager can run the strategy (place trades, allocate) within preset limits, but cannot send your funds to anyone — there's simply no function for that.
- There's no bank guarantee. The trade-off for self-custody is that the risk is the strategy and the code — see the "fees & safety" and "technical" sections.
